At Hog Roast Thetford we know how important taking a well deserved break away from a busy schedule is especially towards the end of the year, which is exactly what we helped to achieve when we treated the staff at Wates to a flavoursome feast.
The team at HMP Wayland had the chance to break up their usual work day, step away from their work schedules and grab a plate, ready to be completely personalised. With food served at 12:00 and around 120 mouths to feed, the aim of the event was to keep things straightforward, filling, and allow every guest to enjoy a tasty meal, during a shared break.
The showstopper of the menu was our whole roasted pig, as with all of our events, the meat was slow roasted on site for hours before the guests began lining up to fill their plates. Guests could personalise their plate and grab as much or as little as they wanted (although most people opted for generous helpings after they smelt the irresistible aroma of our hog filling the whole venue), as the menu was served buffet style. Alongside the meat was apple sauce and sage and onion stuffing, then piled everything into a choice of bread rolls or wraps, with gluten-free rolls available on request. To fill up even further and keep plates balanced, the buffet also included butchers sausages and a range of fresh sides, including tomato and mozzarella salad, a mixed salad, and coleslaw.
The Hog Roast Thetford team kept
the variety coming with a popular potato option, freshly cooked homemade chips, served with a selection of sauces along with salt and vinegar so everyone could finish things off their own way.
There are always delicious meat free options on offer, the option for our meat free guests for this event were grilled vegetable skewers, with halloumi added for vegetarians and left off for vegans. These were served in wraps with tzatziki and a sweet chilli sauce, giving an alternative that perfectly complimented the rest of the menu. Hog Roast Thetford always makes sure that all guests are considered no matter what their dietary requirements are.
Everything was served buffet style onto wooden disposable crockery with wooden cutlery, which kept service moving smoothly and ensured practicality for a workplace setting. The relaxed setup allowed staff to eat at their own pace, chat with colleagues, and go back to work feeling well fed and happy.
We were thrilled to support the Wates team with a simple yet satisfying staff lunch that had people coming back for second helpings and discussing their favourite bit of the feast.
